About

Hello, My name is Dinusha Nuwanka Jayawardena also known as Jay.
I am a FIDE (World Chess Federation) Instructor and also an international arbiter. I have been teaching chess for more than 20 years in different countries like Canada, United Kingdom and Sri Lanka.

Further, I have involved in organizing Chess tournaments from FIDE events like World chess championship zonal qualifiers to youth events, chess in schools programs, teacher training programs and summer camps.

I have been working with different age groups from kindergarten to 12th grade and I have guided them for national championships and they have also represented their countres in youth events.

In addition to that i have worked with the adults to prepare them for Mercantile Chess Tournaments as a player-cum-coach. Further, I have represented Bearsden Chess Club-Glasgow, Crystal Palace & Croyden Chess Club- England, Colombo Chess Club, Vishy Anand Chess Club and Josephian Chess Club - Sri Lanka in many tournaments and leagues.

My plan is to inculcate the love for the game among the students with a life long passion and to guide them on the right path by providing quality training using latest technology and chess material.

We conduct tournaments among our students and outside our academy in both online and offline versions.

You can create your own game and share it with your coach and fellow players for better suggestions.

Most Frequent Question and Answers

It depends on individuals and their ambitions. If you want your child to learn the game and to improve problem solving skills and strategic thinking, they can start it anytime from grade K-12. If you want your child to play provincial,national and world youth level events it’s better to start at the age between 5-6.

Yes, We are planning to conduct weekly Rapid (15 mins) tournaments for our students.
 

We will be constructing our lessons based on the level of the players. We will cover all the stages from opening to end game including opening perpetration, tactics, positional play and also reviewing of tournament games. Our online platform can facilitate to conduct class tournaments and practice games. Further, I will be sharing all the material pertaining to the topics covered. Homework will be assigned and students can complete it online. There will be an evaluation after each term.

In order to see a substantial growth, we recommend 4-5 hours for chess every week
